Appeal
We are completing the building at our flagship makerspace in Owerri and equipping it properly — the machines, the benches, the extraction and the power to run them.
₦150,000,000
what it costs to finish and equip the space
Two things, in this order. First, finish the building — a workshop that is weather-tight, wired for the load the machines draw, and extracted properly, because you cannot safely run a laser cutter or a welding bay without that. Second, equip it: the machines themselves, the benches they sit on, and the consumables that keep them running.
Owerri is our flagship space and the one every other site learns from. Getting it finished is what lets us keep the doors open to people who could not otherwise afford the equipment — which is the whole point of running it as a not-for-profit rather than a paid workshop.
Most of a target this size comes from institutions rather than individuals. If you are considering a corporate gift, a grant, or sponsoring a named piece of equipment, write to hello@comakersafrica.org and we will send our registration details, accounts, and a breakdown of costs.
